I've seen information on the 5000 r.p.m. redline and the 6000 r.p.m. redline tachs. But I have yet to read anything about the 5500 r.p.m. redline tach in my 69 SS. Please cure my confusion. Am I missing something?

Don't know if this will help Lou but I can confirm certain situations regarding the tachs in 69 Camaros, whether the same holds true for the Chevelle I don't really know.

For example, in early Z/28's and 375 HP cars the redline was 6,000 with a 7,000 tach. Later in the year this was changed to a 6,500 redline with a 8,000 tach.

My source book indicates the Camaros of the 325 & 350 HP variety came with the 5,500 redline.

Just some food for thought.
