Hello-I am having a problem with my 850 Holley double pumper overflowing through the vent tube of the secondaries when I "stand on it". I am running a fuel filter, and in addition I installed those charcoal inlet filters. I have also installed a new float and inlet valve and this did not help my problem. The float level is set correctly and when this flooding happens I check the inlet valve for dirt and find nothing. I also have a new fuel line from the tank and run a Mallory Comp 140 pump and Holley regulator set to 6 psi. There is no problem with the primaries. Any idea what could be causing this annoying problem? In normal driving this does not happen since I am not opening the secondaries. Thanks in advance for any help.

Only two things I can think of that would cause that, floats, but you say they're set properly, or the vent tube being obstructed by the air cleaner. I've read that there needs to be a certain amount of clearance in order for the vent tube to properly vent, otherwise a condition like you mentioned might occur.

How do you know they are overflowing when you stand on it? Is it stumbling? If the float level is correct you need quick(i'd guess atleast 1.7 or better) 60ft times to get it to slosh out. i think your problem is something else. Try taking some fuel line or other rubber hose and slipping it over the vent tube's. A couple of inches or so. Leave the air filter off and launch it as hard as you can. If it stumbles I'll bet it is something else.

I know it is overflowing because after I get on it, the car stalls and when I remove the air cleaner I can see the carb is all wet with fuel and when I try to start it again or turn on the fuel pump I see this happning, then it stops and I drive home and tinker more. Last year there was no problem at all. The only thing I changed this year was the fuel line (3/8") but I don't see how this could be the problem. I will try the idea with the rubber hose on the vent tube. My 60 ft. times are in the 1.8 range now.
