i need a set of heads for my 77' 355 (i have smog heads stock) and i found a fella w/94 vette reverse flow aluminum heads for $100 (worked as tech as dealer so he said he knows they are good and he's cleaning out the garage) will these work accesory wise, and how could i hook up the reverse flow, or should i go with his 76cc (like mine) but with 202-150 valves ported and polished 441 casting heads and would the accesories of mine work? a/c etc. he wants $250 for em w/out springs (i have springs for em) lotta bowl work he said.

looking at them tomorrow and i don't know much about heads or costs except that bowlwork isn't cheap nor is installing larger valves.

he also has a 383 w/ all new parts (short block minus cam) for $1400 block has been bored 30 and been decked and aligned etc. (not sure what all but it was going to be a blown 383 4bolt all good stuff arp, mougal, etc.)

John, If he won't let you take them to a machine shop of your choosing-STEER CLEAR and say no thanks. Just my opinion.

The reverse flow heads will not work unless you do some major work.Take a head gasket that works on your block and put it up against the bottm of the head. You will see that the cooling holes do not line up and coolant will be flowing into the lifter valley. They can be welded but there is no provision for the thermostat because coolant does not flow that part of the intake. The thermostat is actually in the water pump on these reverse engines and they will not bolt up to a old style block. They can be made to work but it involves welding and machining.I'd leave these alone. How do I know?I fixed a set and they are a major pain.

ok now i think im interested in the 441 heads. anything special about em?? made in 69 and 70 and these have extensive porting,202 valves and guide plates (never been run) $250 sounds pretty good to me concidering it costs a fortune to port a set of heads and my 76cc are 77's and prone to cracking. he was a GM tech for 10 years and one of the top computer guys in the nation for GM FI when he changed jobs (went to pc's) and he is cleaning out his garage, he didn't have the 441's advertised, just the vette heads so i asked and he has a ton of stuff.
