Has anyone been able to install a manual overdrive in a 66 and still use the factory console in the same location without using a hydralic clutch. A factory looking shifter would be nice too! Don't ask for much do I?

Ken K Mar 8th, 00, 6:00 PM There is a way to install a manual overdrive in a 66 as you discribed, but it may not be the strongest transmission. You can adapt a overdrive from a 3 speed Saginaw and mate it to a 4 speed Saginaw transmission. JJ'65 Mar 9th, 00, 8:40 PM Ken K: Can you amplify a little bit about adding overdrive to the Saginaw 4-speed? It sounds interesting. Thanks Gene Chas Mar 10th, 00, 5:10 AM BR, strength becomes an issue. Don;t think about Gear Vendors, I went down that road. No go for a Munice or other 4 speed tranny in our cars. The Hone OD unit used on some COPOs is sweet if you ever find one. Only option is Ken K's solution. Worry about strength. ------------------ Chaas Gold #62/ACES 67 SS396/L88 www.chevelles.com/showroom/chaas1.jpg (http://www.chevelles.com/showroom/chaas1.jpg) |
