Hi, I have a 1972 Chevelle Malibu.
I want to know something...
in the transmission i have:
Park R N D L2 L1
Is that powerglide? or is it 3 speed transmission???
Thanks.

Three forward gears (D, L2, L1) would indicate Turbo Automatic 3 speed. Powerglide would essentially have two forward gears (D, L).

Can't say for sure but most likely a Turbohydromatic 350. Others on this site will be more knowledgeable about the difference between the Turbo 400 and the Turbo 350 which I think both were available in 72

I'm no expert, but getting very basic, the TH350 was light duty up to 396 CI. and the TH400 was heavy duty 396 CI. and up.
The easiest way to identify (other than running numbers) is to look at the throttle cable. The TH350 is connected by cable to the throttle lever.
The TH400's throttle control is electric and runs from a connector switch at the carb to the tranny.
I'd wager your running a smallblock TH350 combo.

Powerglide is a two-forward-gear tranny, if you have more than 2 forward gears then its not a powerglide.
i've heard powerglide isn't all that good anyway tho.
