if angle plugs are better ,why?
Also can the 70 cc performers be milled to 64c cc?

Angle plug heads aim the spark plug towards the exhaust valve which is the hotest part of the chamber. By burning the hotest part of the chamber first you lessen the chance of detonation which may allow you to run a couple more degrees of timing before detonation starts.

I assume you are speaking of the Edelbrock performer heads, I bought a set of their angle plug heads a few years ago. I couldn't find any headers that fit. After checking about half a dozen headers I finally found a set that only needed one tube changed to clear the sparkplugs. Modifying headers to fit is not cheap. I don't think it is worth the extra money to gain a couple of horsepower. I don't think I would get angle plug heads for a street motor unless I knew I could get some off the shelf headers. If you decide to get angle plug heads check with the manufacturer to see if they will fit production headers, I believe some of the manufacturers state their heads do.

well I already have tork step hedmans ,which will clear angle plugs, but I can't find a 64 cc angle plug head;can the 70 cc be milled to 64 cc? also wouldn't a more efficient burn require less total timing?

G.M. Performance makes a set of heads called Fast Burn. They are 64cc chambers, CNC ported, angle plug aluminum heads. Probably one of the best set of heads money can buy. Jim Pace sells them for $995 for the pair. They come complete, ready to bolt on.

The answer to your question about milling is YES!

Cut about .036 off the deck or .006 per CC to gain the desired size. Before you put the heads on for good, put them on and check manifold fit first. Correct if necessary.

The Fast Burn heads are engineered to do just that. They've configured the combustion chamber so the gases will burn at a faster rate. Jay at Sanderson Headers told me the spark plugs on the Fast Burn heads have a different angle than conventional angle plug heads. I couldn't tell you if this is 100% true or not because the Fast Burn heads are the only angle plug heads that I've ever owned.
BTW - You only need 34 deg total advance with the Fast Burn heads. However, with race gas you can run them up to 36deg total adv. and scare the zh!t out of your shorts http://www.chevelles.com/forum/biggrin.gif http://www.chevelles.com/forum/biggrin.gif http://www.chevelles.com/forum/biggrin.gif

I run Canfield aluminum heads with CNC combustion chambers. They are 65cc's, with angle plugs in my 70. I had to use Hooker Super Comp. headers. I am very pleased.
The Canfields are a beautiful product and with the stamping of "For Race Use Only"...that makes them perfect for my daily driver!
Seriously, for all I have in my car, she is a pussycat when I put her in Drive and mosey around town and to work and back. But if I drop er down, or just generally get my rpm's up...those heads start swollerin the air and she pulls and pulls and pulls through the mid and upper rpm range.
Anyone else runnin Canfields?
