Professor, I have 295/50/15 on 15x8 rims on the rear of my 71.Lets just say those wells are extremely full.On big bumps I will get a little rub, but it is not quite enough to make me roll the lip.(read lazy)But they look very cool and intimidating.

Sean, what kind of backspace do you have??? checked the orig SS rims and they have 4.5" but looks like i could go to 5" but it would be close to the shockbolt Tahnks

I had 295x50x15's mounted on 10x15 w/5" offset and had to roll the lip when I put on the McCreary Road Stars.
275x50x15 T/A radials should be no problem.

Darryl.... I also have 295/50/15's on my 71...like sean says, fills it right up...I have air shocks, and had to add just a little air to get more clearance...The wheels I have (Eagle) only come in a standard backset, I could use a little more, cause there is more room behind the tire...it could go back in a couple inches without hitting anything...but they fit OK now, so Im happy....John

I have 255/60R15's in the rear of my '69 Chevelle w/5" offset 15"x8.5" Convo-Pros. The car is lowered all the way around by about 2" and I never have a rub-issue, but it is tight.

I have M&H racemaster slicks(28"H-12"w) the lips are rolled up and there is quite a bit of room. has anyone used the mickey thompson sportsman pro tires that are 28"h and 12.5" wide. they also sell a 29"-12.5. I would like to run the biggest tire possible. thanx
