I recently replaced the TH350 in my 1969 SS with a TH400. I was told by Chevrolet and some of the local speedshops that relocating the crossmember to the 2nd set of holes to the rear of the TH350 holes was all that would be required. I purchased a new mount and in order to even get close to mounting everything, the tranny has to be pushed into the floorboard way too snuggly to allow any movement. The crossmember looks like the proper piece and contours to the floorboard nicely in either mounting location. Any assistance would be appreciated.

Thanks-

Something sure ain't right..I did the same thing on my 69 Malibu and the crossmember fits great. It is possible to have the crossmember installed 180 degrees backwards!
I took out a 350/350 trans and went back in with a 454/400 trans. I used GM motor mounts and the trans mount is one of those urethane pieces that I think was from Just Suspension.
