I know there has been a lot of discussion on this topic, but I still need to express my concern. I have the opportunity to purchase a 12 bolt posi for my 70 chevelle for $800.00. It has 3.31 gears, new mosier axles, and disk brakes conversion. I am running a 408ci engine and considering a TH350 or 400 with a 2.75 1st. Currently have a stock TH350 w/10bolt 2.73's. Questions? Does the rear sound like a good deal @$800.00? Am I getting my money's worth? The car will be primarily street driven with occasional highway use. Will these gears give me the performance on the street? I am running a 26.7" tire. I have two days to respond on the offer. All replies and recommendations are much appreciated.

$800 is a great deal for whats in the rear. 3.31's would be great for your set up. That ratio is a good trade off for exceleration and highway cruising. You will deffinatly notice a difference over the 2.73's. You should never have any problems with your 10 bolt unless you plan on running slicks at some point, but for 800 bucks its a deal you shouldn't pass up. I am spending near $1100 to get my 12 bolt done and it will only have stock axles and drums.

Yes I agree. I cant speak specifically for your area, because I know that prices vary greatly state to state but that is a really good price where I live... especially for disc conversions, how cool is that?? I say buy it..

If the components in the rear are in good shape and legitimate, you should jump on this one quick. I would never put money into a 10-bolt and there's no way you can go wrong with that price.

If its' in decent shape, I agree with these guys - BUY IT! Here in Houston, that IS a very good price even for a well used but complete rear-end.

If it's in excellent shape, that's a fair price.

If it's in decent shape (doesn't need to be all new parts inside), that would be a pretty good deal in my area.
