I have a 72 Chevelle with Air conditioning. The heater, defroster and air conditioning controls work fine but I hear a hissing sound comming from the dash where the hoses plug in. It sounds like a big vacume leak but as I said evrything looks hooked up right (no unconnected hoses) and every thing works ok. any ideas. Thanks Don
Could be either a broken or disconnected hose, or broken part, or a duct door may be hanging up causing the vacuum circuit to be open. Just some thoughts.

Most probably you have some kind of a vacuum leak in or around the controls and your engine vacuum is strong enough to keep up with the leak.
To remove the dash pad so that you can look for the leak, remove the screws from under the front edge of the dash (2 inside glove box). Lift up and out to remove the dash pad. Then it may be much easier to inspect for a vacuum leak.
