Hey guys. I just got my rebuilt 350 on the road. But when I step on it or go past alittle over 2,000rpms, it starts to spit and sputter. Right now the the balancer is set on TDC. I dont know my compression, but I have

.30 TRW forged pistons
bowtie iron, 3 angle, .40 decked
600cfm Edelbrock carb and perfmer rpm intake

Another problem I have is the balancer timing tab doesnt line up with my real TDC. TDC is probably off 20deg advance from my tab. Any help?

Sounds like your whole ignition timing is way off kilter.

You probably have the wrong style of timing chain cover/timing tab. Is it straight up or off to the right (facing the engine)?

You need to mechanically find your top-dead-center, then find a timing tab that is designed for that spot, and make sure it's right at zero.

Then, you need to use a timing gun to make sure your mechanical and vacuum advance are set up and working properly. At 800rpm with the vacuum advance disconnected, 8-10 degrees
advanced should be just about right.

Tell us how it goes, we'll be rooting for ya
