jac,
The hose/block assy' is available from Ground Up (our sponsor), Year One and National Parts Depot. It's also available from your local auto parts place, but usually a special order.

Sounds like you may be referring to the "proportioning valve".

Ground Up Y2K catalog, page 49, part #FM-1350, $139.00. If that's what you are looking for.

No , this vavle or flex block sits in the rear of the car attached to the axle.

Ground Up shows this block for a 66-68 car, but not for a 70.

If you do not care if it is "stock" you can take the part to a hydraulic line supply company and they can make you a new one and may be able to reuse the fitting you have. These companies are in most large cities and make custom lines for heavy equipment. They can make custom air-conditioning, power steering, fuel, brake and tranny lines.

jac,
I changed mine a couple of weeks ago. I ordered it from Year One. It's on page 397 of their catalog. Part # NG586. Fit and function was just fine. Cost was $34.00

Is this a different assembly on the SS models than on the non SS Chevelles? We ARE talking about the rear rubber hose that connects from the hard line to the two wheel cylinder lines, right? It's a rubber line with a brass junction block crimped on the end, am I correct? I just replaced the one on my Malibu a couple of weeks ago and Year One had it in stock. Can someone enlighten me?

Jac,

The block that attaches to the rear is part of the rear flex hose, it's one piece. It bolts onto the rear housing it self. If this is what you need Ground Up has it (our sponsor) Part # EBH-06 $21.95.

There is another brass block that bolts on the frame on the driver's side - the front to rear brake line bolts up to it and a small metal brake line which attaches to the flex line which goes to the rear. I have not seen that block for sale, I just removed mine, cleaned it and reused it. I don't think it does too much, but I could be wrong.

Hope this helps.

What did you use to clean this brass block , I would assume brake cleaner an did you have to soak it or just spray it . Could can air hose be used?

I found the valve to be unique to 1970 model's and is not avaiable from any supplier . I was lucky enough to talk to a person in a Chevy dealer who had the same problem and used the proprtioning valve from a 1972 chevelle which eliminates the need for this unique valve . THANKS to everyone
