I'm ready to install my new steering wheel and want to spruce up my shroud. What color should the grain be, semi gloss or gloss black? Thanks for the help

I tried washing the grain but it still has white residue or something on it, any ideas on how to clean and polish the grain?

Maybe something like DX 330, or some purple cleaner, scrub it good, then put some protectant on it. They are available yet also if you want new.

Try Westley's Bleach White straight with no water and a light scrub brush. This cleans plastic to like new condition. Also cleans vinyl siding, vinyl interiors, you name it. When done, rinse with water.

Steve -

Some of the hard plastic interior pieces will take on a hazy or whitish appearance if they're hit with some cleaners. I found this out the hard way with Simple Green and some seat belt parts. This may be what you are seeing on your shroud.

I restored mine using VHT vinyl dye. I'm not sure if it's correct, but it really looks great when it's got some protectant on it.

Guys,

Be very cautious using any chemical cleaning agents on plastic. Most can "leech" into the plastic as a result of a chemical reaction. Westley's Bleech white! YIKES! That is very acidic! I recommend some elbow grease utilizing hot soapy water. Then if need be use an appropriate plastic polish such as "NOVUS" brand, there are even some available at parts stores--I belive MOTHERS brand makes a plastic polish.
