My 70 ss has the F41 suspension , but the control arms or trailing arms are not boxed in.I have the build sheet and it says F41 and posi traction, and the ZL3 ss396 conversion.Did some come not boxed in.

Do you have a rear sway bar? Maybe someone swapped out the posi at one time? I thought all SS cars had the boxed rear lower control arms, never heard of any exceptions??? Anyone else?

I thought all SS cars had boxed arm also, last weekend while at the wrecking yard I found a '72 SS, someone had beaten me to the sway bar, but the lower arms were not boxed. http://www.chevelles.com/forum/confused.gif They had the holes for the sway bar, but no bar & no boxed arms. Otherwise I wouldn't have let them torch the arms to get the rear end. That was the only thing left on the car. http://www.chevelles.com/forum/frown.gif (TOTALLY stripped) Did manage to find a 1-1/4" Trans Am front sway bar for $25. http://www.chevelles.com/forum/biggrin.gif

Brian your not alone. I too have the buidsheet for my 70 SS. All the right codes for an SS, L34 396, ZL3 SS 396, including F41 suspension. My car does NOT have boxed control arms or a rear sway bar that I thought all SS cars had. I don't know maybe the control arms got swapped out at some point. I plan on boxing or replacing mine and adding a sway bar. RC

I have the opposite situation, as my 69 SS, which wouldn't have come with boxed lowers, has factory units with a sway bar. One of the previous owners may have done the swap, and if so I'm glad he used factory units.
