I pulled the clock on my 66 and all looks good but the stem will not turn. Tried everything to loosen it but darn thing won't budge. I contacted D&M Restorations and they will replace the internals with a quartz movement for about $125 or try to repair the existing one for about the same money. They said that these clocks (made by Westclock) are very poor and noted for not lasting. Should I have them replace with quartz movement or is this a no-no for keeping things original?? Has anyone used the D&M guys?

I've heard of D&M, but never actually sent anything to them.

It your car, but here's some insight...

If you go quartz, it will not tick-tick-tick any more. It will be a smooth sweeping motion of the seconds hand. If this bothers you, you should have them repair using the original insides.

Some people may think this little difference is hardly worth mentioning, but I've heard in concours judging for Corvettes, they take points off if the clocks don't "tick-tick-tick".

I would ask them if how the warranty each repair method.
