Hey guys, I'm curious about something. On the 454 in my El Camino, I have a set of chrome valve covers with raised horizontal ridges. In the center of the covers there is a large space with a raised symbol that says M/T (micky thompson) and just to the left of the initials is a small circle with a raised 427 in it. I was told they were off of a late 60's corvette, but was wondering if any of you knew if there was any truth to this, or what they might be worth.

I don't think there is any truth to it being a factory Corvette piece. I recall M/T making those back in the early-mid 70's. But they are somewhat rare. Not many of those around anymore.
I wouldn't give more than $50 for them but to the right person they might be worth $200. Who knows! http://www.chevelles.com/forum/smile.gif

71Elky, as you see from my moniker those would interest me. If they're in good shape. what would you want? A new pair of chrome drippers?

I still have the M/T aluminum valve covers from the seventies on my 70 SS 396. Originally they were black wrinkle painted, but I glass beaded them and then polished them. They are considered sort of a 70's vintage type valve cover. You get a lot of good comments at car shows about "even" having the M/T valve covers. I can say they never leak, nice heavy casting.I made 1/4-20 studs about an inch long to thread into the heads and then use tapped T-shaped hold downs to secure the valve covers. It makes keeping the gaskets in place easy.
