i am trying to get the timing right with my motor. i set total advance at 34* and it pings like hell. then when i shut it down it diesels like a mack truck http://www.chevelles.com/forum/confused.gif if i set initial advance to 8* it has no power and runs like a dog, but doesn't ping and wont diesel. http://www.chevelles.com/forum/eek.gif the motor has a comp xtreme268 in it and a malory magnetic breakerless ignition, 9.5 to 1 comp, performer rpm intake and 600 carb. any advice greately appreciated.

If if starts, runs, and shuts down fine, leave well enought alone
