Why oh why does it never fail.. You pay your money and buy all of these COOL cars to restore.. '67 SS396 matching #'s, '69 427 SS Implala convertible, etc. etc. and not a stich of original paperwork to be found anywhere in or under it no-where no-how. Nada.

But you go haul in a '69 Malibu 4 door body you just bought for the front clip, perfect front and rear bumpers and tailight housing assemblies.

Lo and behold what's in the glovebox???

NOT only the POP (protect-o-plate) and all reciepts for EVERYTHING EVER done to the thing.. but also a copy of the window sticker!!

Written on the back of the window sticker is where the original owner logged mileage until he sold it in 1992.. 28,xxx!!!

Price I paid for this thing? $200 smackers. Man I'd give $500+ for the ORIGINAL paperwork for some of my other cars.

You are right. It seems the more you pay for a car the less paperwork that comes with it. I have been suprised a few times though to find a build sheet when I thought all hope was lost. I found the build sheet for a 69 Malibu inside the front bench seat when I removed the cover for repair. It was in perfect condition. I have also found one taped to the top of the gas tank. It was a little worn but still readable. I have heard of them showing up in odd places, but, you may have to take alot of things apart. Good luck.
