has anyone put a set of 15 by 8 wheels on a 66 chevelle. I'm worried they won't clear the front when turning. I have a set of 15 by 8 center lines with 4.5 backspacing.
any info would be appreciated.

I met a couple of folks at the Chevelle Regionals at Tulsa last August that had American Racing Outlaw I 15x8 on the front of 66 Velles running (I think) 235/60/R15s and claimed to have no problems. I've got the same wheels and tires on the rear of my 67 and was considering it. The backspacing on the AREs is 3.75" so I don't know what the extra .75" would do for clearance.

The owner is also either the Pres or VP of the Okla Chevelle Owners Assn and you might try their site for name/number if you're interested in talking to him. ( http://www.okchevelle.com ) I want to say it's the VP's car - Jim Johnson - but not certain.

Check out the May '99 Feature Car, 15 X 8 Corvette Rally's on 60 series tires all around, never had any problems with clearance. I think you'll be alright.

I have 15X8" Ralley Wheels on my 67 with P215 70R tires on the front and P235 70R's on the back (I tried to duplicate the 70 series factory look). I know the back spacing is different on the front than the back but I appologize, I don't know what it is. I have no rubbing problem at all in the front. Hope this helps some
