I wanted to ask a question so BEAR with me. I hope it's not to stupid. Anyway, my friends dad ran circle track for many years. We got in a conversation one day about reverse flow water pumps and effecient they were in cooling the engine. He mentioned that most of the racers would use 3 water temp gagues. One on the manifold and one in each head. They did this to monitor if one head was running hotter than the other and to gague how effecient the motor was cooling and operating. I know that certain cylinders run hotter than others and the purpose of this was to have each side of the head run at the same temp. I know this is extreme and in racing you want to keep the engine cool to maximize power. Do any of you out there in TC-land run water temp gagues in both heads? If so, is it for circle track or strip Would this be considered overkill? Would it be a good idea to monitor heads especially aluminum heads on a SB400? You know, with the siamese bore and all. Also it's notoriety with blowing head gaskets. What are your opinions? Ultimately, it would be my decision. Just wanted some thoughts. Thanks.
