what's the difference between 70 chevelle & elcamino front fenders? why won't they interchange? jim

The body lines aren't the same. Chevelles have a bulge and the El Camino is more flat. Good luck in your search for 70 sheet metal, its getting more scarce and more expensive.

If you're looking for a set of 1970 El Camino fenders, you can also use 1970 station wagon fenders.

I thought you could use 71-2 wagon and El Camino fenders with some minor modifications for the side marker. Please correct me if I am wrong.

True. The 70 fenders have the 2 slits for the side marker lights, whereas the 71-2 incorporate the side marker lights into the parking lights. If you are EXTREMELY, SUPER GOOD at cutting/shaping the 2 slits of a 71-2 fender, then yes, I suppose you could modiy them to fit a 70-------------------I AIN'T THAT GOOD!!!!! I gotta have 70 fenders.

Another thing that you need to be aware of is the fact that the fender extensions are different (that's the housing which goes around the headlights). For the 2 or 4dr cars, you MUST use 2/4dr fenders and front extensions. For a wagon or Elky, the same applies. AND, AND, AND on 71-2s you EVEN have to use the same corrosponding parking light frames/lenses.
