Bill, Just take your time and look around, do as much research as possible before you buy. I took my time and looked around for a few months and found there are a lot of trailers out there and to get one with what you want may take some searching. I would definetly recommend 4 wheel brakes with breakaway, removable fenders (so you can open the cars doors without hitting, all new tires (some come with cheapie or used tires), a new spare tire/wheel, a 5000 lb receiver with same spec front jack (jack wheel not ness), I prefer slide out ramps instead of lifting them on/off, steel decking or drive on ramps (instead of wood). Open or closed deck have there own advatages, open deck enables under car wrenching if ness, flat deck can use the trailer to haul stuff. Make sure you have at least 2 front and 2 rear tie downs or d-rings, all ness lights. Finally, measure the cars width and length, make sure the trailer is a little extra wide and long so you don't rub the tires getting on and have enough room up front for a storage box later on. I had my trailer built because I couldnt find what i wanted ready made, all had some but not all the items listed.

Lower is better, high trailers and short ramps are tractor trailers, not car trailers brakes are a necesity, and a removable fender is nice so you don't have to crawl out the drivers window, and make sure the tongue is long so you can open your tail gate, sometimes the trailer jack will be to close and you can't open the tailgate with the trailer attached, and look for good strap mounts. You can always order what you want good luck.

Above advice is real good, I followed all of it except for removable fenders, which hasn't been a problem because of they are located far enough back. Mine is 85" wide and 18' long. I have brakes on 1 axle and it stops fine. My ramps slide in under the bed and are easy to use. I don't use the breakaway brakes but some states require it so I added it in as an option when I ordered the trailer. The dovetail option makes loading a lowered car much easier.

I purchased a open trailer 3+ years ago. Doesn't have removable fenders. Not a problem on the velle, 65 vette, camaro, shoebox, etc. What else would you want to haul? I have a full steel deck with dual axles and brakes on one axle. I bought it with surge brakes. This eliminates the need for elect. brake wiring. Everyone that has borrowed it loves the way it pulls, don't know it's back there. I pulled it 1200 miles last spring. You can run 70 to 80, with or without a car on it. It was built by Park Co. 7500 wt. capacity

The above comments are all right on target. I would just say that dovetail end is a must, not and option. Also opt for the longer ramps if offered. I don't know what "removeable" fenders are but my fenders are low enough to open the door w/o me removing them. But yes you need to open the door while the car is on the trailer. Get tow straps that meet or exceed 10,000 pounds. While your car may not weight 10k, in an abrupt stop or accident your 3800 pound Chevelle through G forces will increase its weight very quickly. Get axle straps for the rear.

I recently bought a trailer from a place called Horsecreek Mfg. I had been looking at several places and steel decks dual axle elec brakes slide ramps dove tail w/ spare was going to run abouit 2400$. Horsecreek was $1425. Nice trailer. Only problem with it has been that I had a flat tire, not really their fault. http://www.chevelles.com/forum/smile.gif
