I was wondering if anyone knows what headers would fit best on my 68 malibu with a 4-speed with angle plug heads. I was just wondering in case i go with a small block with the afr angle heads.
Thanks

A friend of mine has the AFR angle plug heads and he used coated Hooker Super Comps that cleared beautifully on his '69 Camaro. If they'll work there then I'm sure they'll work well on your Chevelle.

The super comps do fit but not all size primary tubes can be used.OPGI catalog shows 1 5/8 will not fit, but the 1 3/4 DOES fit.The Hooker Headers catalog confirms this. The reg comp headers will not work either.

My 70 Chevelle 350 with 350Turbo has Canfield aluminum angle plug heads. I use the Hooker Super Comp. ceramic coated headers. They are 1 3/4". They fit nicely with only a little massaging (slight bend)of the shifter linkage.
Call Hooker and tell them what you have and they will tell you what will fit. Regular Comp. headers are a general fit, but the Super Comps. are bent specifically for a particular application. (But don't confuse this with custom headers).
BUT BEWARE...Hooker, Summit, and Jeg's all told me that with these headers I would have to use a 153 tooth flywheel and a mini-starter to clear the headers. I am hear to say that they are wrong. I ended up buying them and had to eat them, cause they wouldn't fit. Now the stock flywheel and stock starter fit fine. So be prepared.

Check with Jay at Sanderson Headers www.sandersonheaders.com (http://www.sandersonheaders.com) or Century Performance www.centuryperformance.com (http://www.centuryperformance.com) for a complete application guide. Sanderson uses 3/8" flanges. Currently they are redesigning their entire line for small block Chevelles.
They'll be able to help pick the size for you application also.
