One question on the 454 crate
engine. What type of alternator
bracket do I use? It has to be on
the drivers side , Too much
traffic on the other side. Aren't
these engines made to accept that
one piece monster bracket that
holds everything and runs the
(sp?> )serpentine belt? I'm not
looking to go with the spentine
system. TIA

Hi Joe,

The LS6, Gen 5 and Gen 6 454 crate motors use the long water pump. This means you'll be mounting the alt on the pass side. I got my brackets brand new from GM. You can get them from resto places like the site sponsor(I've bought stuff from 'em). Some after market companmies make them in chrome too. There is a top piece and a bottom piece. Plus you'll need a lower spacer which is also still avail from GM.

Moose502,
Thanks for following all my post. Real hands on experience with these BB crates is helpful. Is your alternator mounted high up by the valve cover or mounted lower. TIA

Your alt will be mounted up high. Basically no different than long water pump BBC.
