I am in the process of restoring my bucket seats for my 1972 Chevelle. I sure would like to put in some new springs, but after seeing the prices in Year One and such, it looks like its out of the question. Does anyone have any resources on a less expensive alternative? Thanks.

I had a local upholstery shop repair mine. They were able to get springs to replace the broken ones. I don't remember the price, but I do remember it wasn't bad.
You would be way ahead if you just bought the new springs and did it yourself. The aftermarket catalogs offer complete spring bottoms for about $60-$70 and I wish I would have went that route! I chose to have my upholster rebuild my seats with new springs, and she only charges $10/hr labor. But she put 17 hrs into my seats and 13-14 of the hours was just in spring repair to my one seat bottom!!! If you can do the work yourself, then find a donor seat to get the springs from or buy the new ones and avoid paying labor!

You might try to find a passenger seat to pirate the springs from. They usualy are not as beat up as the drivers side. I went this route, found a seat with torn upholstery (pass side) and made a deal with the owner to throw in the extra seat for $20
