: Nice rug, no WOT.

I've never had this problem on a car I put together, but the prior owner of my '67 'Elle put in a new rug. Looks great, until you have a friend give you full throttle and realize that the carb is only 2/3 open ( duh, doesn't seems to run as strong as it should ). Well, I haven't even driven the car yet, but if I can't have WOT.. waaaawaaa

The throttle linkage pin is screwed out nearly to the end of the threads on the linkage arm so there's little adjustment left. I was toying with a cable setup from Lokar, but any ideas for a cheap fix?

Two possableties, at the carb, move to a hole closer to the throttle pivot or if my memory serves there is a clamp near the firewall that can be adjusted ( at least there is on the 67 Camaro ).

Two choices that should work, from the pedal there is a metal bar that goes through the "pivot thing" http://www.chevelles.com/forum/smile.gif on the fire wall, then bends back towards the driver and at the end it connects to the throttle cable. Check to see if the throttle cable is tight but not opening the carb when the pedal is not being used, if there is slack (you can push the pedal in but nothing happens) then bend the top part of the rod towards the drivers seat until it is tight on the cable (I gained 1.5" of pedal movement by doing this on my friends pickup). If that is not enough you can bend the pedal up and away from the floor a half inch or however much works. This method has always worked for me.

Harley, I have seen the adjustment specs in my assembly manual. Thnx I try that first.
Gandalf, there ai'nt no throttle cable on a 67, just a rod. I was toying with the idea of switch to a Lokar cable.

I have had to remove the carpet padding under the pedal area before.I am not sure if a 67 is the same, but my 66 throttle rod at the carb makes a long up sweep up. It looks like it could be straighteded a little for more length or bent a little more to shorten without causing interference problems.

Gene: I switched to a cable assembly on my 64 cause it was easier to make adjustments. I just tucked up the rod assembly so that it can be replaced if nescessary/wanted down the road. I think you find going to the cable setup will give you more satisfaction.

You didn't mention what carb you are hooking up to, I have a Holley 3310s.

Canuck64SS,

Which carb? Well, lets see first a Holley 4160( I think ) 750 dbl, then a Q-jet, and finally a 3X2 setup. Seeing a couple 3X2 installations leads me to think that the cable is the way to fly. My only caveat is originality.

What product did you use, or did you swap a late model in? I hear Lokar and I think street rod, billet, BEND OVER! The cable setup on my last toy, a '75 Nova was perfect.

Gene,

I love Q-Jets but they are a pain when mis-behavin' so I would say Holley, if you want "tinkerability". 3x2 is an option, you got a heavy wallet http://www.chevelles.com/forum/wink.gif ? That will lighten your load! EH?

I borrowed parts from a later model car and got a bracket kit for the Holley and it works terrific. Why spend more $$$ for a trick setup when the parts are out there for a reasonable dollar. If you want the flashy thing then go billet, but that'll lighten your heavy wallet too... http://www.chevelles.com/forum/biggrin.gif

Canuck64SS,

You're getting a rep as a purveyor of righteous advice. I'll cannalbalize a junk yard car, like my old 75 Nova , for the cable throttle. I prefer to be an "all go, no show" kinda guy. Heck I just want my '67 to look fairly original. ( With a 3X2 )

Gene,

OK... Who's talkin' bout me ??? http://www.chevelles.com/forum/biggrin.gif I just live in a KISS world. My translation is Keep It Simple Stupid ! I have noticed that more & more people keep e-mailing me directly so I guess somethin's right... The more "trick" you go, the more quirks you'll have later, and that just comes from the world of "Damned, I wish I hadn't done that". http://www.chevelles.com/forum/frown.gif

Gene,

Just another thought... I was having a closer look at my setup and I had a brain fart. If you want to keep the originality thing going, then go down to your local hardware store and get a length of threaded rod and some nut's & washer's. Then replace your arm with the threaded rod. Viola! Instant adjustment to the end'th degree and $5.00 worth of hardware. Quick & simple... No ?

Very simple, I like it. A quick blast with some cast iron paint to take the sheen off and voilia! I also want to explore the pivot Harley referred to. There's a spec for it in my assembly manual.

Thanks all.
