I need to get this part as the idiot that is doing my rear end, says he can't locate it anywhere in our area... I know summit and Jegs have it but I need it yesterday.. does anyone know somewhere in Michigan that I can get one of these?
RichmondGears states that the crush sleeve used in the GM 8.2 10bolt and the 7.5 10-bolt are the same, does any one know if this is true? because they don't make the one that is for the 8.2 anymore-???? the dealership has the 7.5 and I wanted to know if that would work?
Thanks-

Have you tried your local Chevrolet dealer's parts dept? Thats where I've always gotten mine, usually in stock.
Try to call them yourself. Sometimes when people work on your car , they are not as eager as we are to have it finished.

If you have stock style gears, the sleeve is no longer made by GM. The good news is that I have one and I know where to get more. If you still need it, let me know by e-mail.
If you have aftermarket gears, the sleeve is the same as those used on the 8.5 10 bolt.

Hey Scooter, how hard is it to find the little things you need to rebuild a BOP 8.2 1967 10 bolt posi 4.11 rear?? Summit ad.'s a GM 8.2 10 bolt, is this what I might need??

That's right it's discontinued from Chev. It is available from some aftermarket sources. Here is a cheap way to cheat and use the old crush sleeve. If you can find a pinion shim for this rear end (55-64 pass are the same shims), use a bench grinder to grind down the outside diameter until it will fit between the crush sleeve and the bearing inner race without touching the cage for the bearing rollers. Then put it back together with the old crush sleeve. If you can't get your hands on a pinion shim, hit the local machine shops and see if you can locate a valve shim that will fit. I have had to do this before and it works fine.

Quad:
What do you need? Reider racing has just about anything you need, but they want an arm & leg for the 8.2 stock crush sleeve, but I can get them for a few bucks. I have a few of them on hand at home, and a couple at my work, and I don't have Reider racing's phone number, but you could do a search and find it, as I've posted it before. Also, the Chevy 8.2 and the BOP 8.2 are totally different.
DZ: Why didn't you post where you got your 8.2 crush sleeve from???? I get it, short memory!!!
Anyway, this goes to anyone, I can help with 8.2 stuff if you need it, e-mail me.

Scooter,
Someone told me one time that factory Chev 8.2 gears require a longer crush sleeve than aftermarket gears for an 8.2???????????????? How can that be? The front/rear pinion bearings are still in the same place no matter what kind of pinion gear is in the case. Right? When I was first told that, I thought OK I will remember that. But after I began thinking it over, I thought that can't be right. No matter what pinion is in there, the pinion bearings don't get relocated.
