I'm considering trying one of the coolant additives out there that supposedly help your engine run cooler. My curiosity is how does it really work? Do they actually keep the motor (not just the water) cooler or do they just provide a thermal barrier on the jackets and senders to make it look like it is running cooler? I'd like to hear from anyone who is or has used them and what you thought. If any of you engine builders or machinists know any technical stuff, I'd like to hear that too. Thanks Dave

I put 2 bottles of a popular water wetting agent in mine with about 20% anti-freeze per the instruction. I couldn't tell any difference in water temps.

I used some stuff that came in a clear bottle, the liquid was red but I don't remember the name. It did drop my actual water temp by 15 degrees. I live about 40 miles west of Palm Springs and we have a hell of a hill to climb to get here. 15 degrees makes the difference between using your air conditioner or not when it's 105 out there

Dave, If your looking to run cooler than the only way to go is straight water. I've used Redline Water Wetter for years and there is no difference over straight water.
