I know there's tons of posts on insurance, but have yet to hear from anyone on this.
Has anyone insured therr unfinished project? I'm about ready for paint and will be hauling my car by trailer, and it will be out of my reach for about a month, so I might be a little worried about theft, fire and the usual problems that can happen.
Anyone who has followed by build-up knows that I have invested a big chunk of change so-far.

Yep, been there and so on. My local insurance agent told me how to do it. It requires that you buy full coverage for your car and then cancel all of the on-highway parts of it. It worked out to $8 per month after that. The insurance covers any fire or roof falling on the car and all of that. I am not sure about UFO damage coverage.

Thanks for the info. I'm thinking of going with Hagerty after my resto is done, so maybe I'll contact them now and see what they can do for me.

I have had no problems insuring several projects, over the years, with State Farm Ins. here in Mi. My agent knows what I have going and we use a stated value policy (which I increase as I go along) and only carry fire and theft. It would then be up to me to prove the value I stated if something happened. I keep all reciepts and take pictures as I go along. So far nothing has happened and the price has been very reasonable.

In line with the unfinished car subject, but not dealing with the transportation issue.
My insurance agent told me that it's better to leave my '34 Chevy listed as "Parts" rather than a Complete car. This way if there ever was a disaster they it would be easier to pay for the entire investment, because its to encumbersum to value a "Project" car and can get sticky in its price value.
"You say it's worth $$$,$$$.00" but we say... "It's only worth $$$.00"
