I notice a while back on my 70, that when I turned a sharp left, I could hear a grinding coming from the steering column or inside the dash. It is getting worse over time. This is a column shifter Turbo 350. The car seems to drive fine. Doesn't seem to do it when I turn right, though.
Any ideas?

Hey Justin...
I had a similar problem when I re-assembled my steering. After I tore it apart for the 3rd time, I got in there with the air hose and blew all the dirt (sand) out and washed down the bearings with WD40. Once completed, I used the the white grease in a spray can on the bearings and that fixed it.
I don't know if the 70 is that different from the 64 but there should be at least 2 bearings on the shaft. Alternatively you might find some broken plastics in there too which could be be rubbing. I also suffered from that and then I discovered that I had to replace my turn signal switch because I crushed the plastic on the second tear down. It's amazing what you can find down in there.
Hope it Helps

Hi Justin,
You don't happen to have headers do you? Check to make sure your steering column shaft and/or shift linkage isn't touching a header tube. The vibration from the engine might make it feel like a grind.
