I'm finally putting front suspension back together on 69 ss chevelle. I've found in two resto books it shows a seal or a gasket that goes on the front spindle before the backing plate and rotor/hub is put on. I found one resto supplier Ground Up, that had this item listed but as of this date has discontinued stocking this item. Anyone know where I could locate this item or another option? As always I appreciate anyones help..Thanks Dusty

Dusty,
The "seal" is a thick paper type gasket. You could probably get a peice of gasket material and cut it out yourself, or do the honerable thing and lay on a bead of RTV. I have used the RTV a couple of times and never had a problem.
Hope this helps,

I took a spindle/knuckle down to the parts store and had them try on thermostat gaskets until we found one that fit pretty good, then all I had to do was cut off the bolt hole area and BAM! Done deal!

I've made my own with a compass and an exacto knife using heavy paper gasket material. Others have used cork. Its purpose is to dampen vibrations.

Thanks for all the help. After a year and a half, it seems good to finally be able to start putting the beast back together. Thanks again.
