BULKSS Mar 1st, 00, 4:50 PM I saw this months feature car a 300 deluxe owned by Von ( who gave me excellent info when i was setting up my tripower) . My question is why does POPS 300 deluxe have pillar posts and his does not . I had always though that was the difference . Thanks MIKE

joe58 Mar 1st, 00, 8:00 PM Mike according to the Chevy literature the 1969 Chevelle had 7 models in two series and 5 body styles. Four models were available with SS396 and one as the "luxurious" Concours Sedan. The 300 Deluxe Sport Coupe had no pillar and the 300 Deluxe Coupe had a pillar.
elcamino72 Mar 1st, 00, 9:34 PM This is what I've always thought to be true, am I wrong?
Sedan = post
Coupe and Hardtop = no post

Sometimes the 2 dr post sedan is referred to as a coupe and the 2 dr hardtop as a sport coupe. 4 dr hardtops are sometimes referred to as sport sedans. At any rate, the SS package was an option in '69 available on any V8 2 door model. The 300 Deluxe (low price) series was available as a 2 dr post sedan (coupe), 2 dr hardtop (sport coupe), or 4dr post sedan. There were 5620 V8 300 Dlx 2 dr posts, and 7181 V8 300 Dlx 2 dr hardtops vs 286162 V8 Malibu 2dr hardtops built in 1969. There were no 2 dr post Malibus. The SS package was also available on Malibu convertibles (8443 V8's). No figures are available for how the SS option was split up, but it's a fair assumption not too many 300 Dlx's were SS equipped in relation to Malibus.

Keith Tedford Mar 2nd, 00, 7:09 AM Von should know. He has one that is as nice as any you will see.
BULKSS Mar 2nd, 00, 8:32 AM I am somewhat clearer I had always though the 300 was some sort of way of representing a post car . Vons car is very nice I can only hope my car come out half as nice Mike
BlueBowTie Mar 2nd, 00, 11:08 AM Von, which of those models came with vent windows like a '68?

Byfield Mar 2nd, 00, 12:38 PM The 300 is not the same as the 300 Deluxe.
And I believe that 69's didn't have vent windows, but I could be mistaken.

I've seen photos of Keith Tedford's '69 300 Dlx SS hardtop and I think it's nicer than mine. Mine will get humbled at Chevellabration, trust me on that. I just referred to my '69 dealer sales brochure and the 2 dr post '69 300 Dlx had vent windows, as well as ALL 4 drs including Malibu 4 dr hardtops, station wagons, El Caminos, and the Concours 4 dr hardtop. Only the 2 dr hardtops and convertibles didn't have vent windows in '69.

hangten Mar 2nd, 00, 5:32 PM The information above is only correct for the 1968 and 1969 year models. In the 64/67 model years, all 300 and 300 deluxe cars have posts. They were less popular than the hardtop models, so in 1968 Chevrolet decided on not having two platforms for car building and just make the same basic body style with a lesser interior style. Looks just as cool, but cheaper to build. I love sedans. They make the best race cars. Lighter and more rigid than hardtops.
