Hi everyone - My 72 Malibu keeps stalling out whenever I put it in gear unless I let it warm up for a good full 7 or 8 minutes before going anywhere. This started suddenly with no apparent event i.e. purchase of bad gas. (Used to take about 2 full minutes of running to warm up.) I checked all the plugs, sprayed gumout in the carb and put in stp gas treatment and no difference. Once running its fine. Any tips before bringing it in for service? Thanks - Anne http://www.lifesymphony.org/chevy/

Hi Anne, cool web page you have! Feel sorry about how your Aunt got ripped off. Thats burns me. Anyway, sounds like you have a choke problem. Before you start it in the morning, take the air cleaner off and look at the position off the choke flap. Should be in a vertical position. Go inside the car and press the accelerator twice to the floor. Go back out and see if the ckoke butterfly has closed partially. If not I'd say the choke needs adjustment/spring work. I believe you have a divorced choke not electric. This is the first place I'd start. Tony A.
