: Help - VW passat won't start

I know it's not my El Camino, but I have a problem with my wife's 92 passat. The starter will not turn the motor. It just clicks. It sounds like a dead battery, but jumping the car did not succeed. Also, all of the interior electrical works fine.

The car died just after the car went through a car wash. I'm betting on a wet starter.

Any other ideas?

Thanks,

Tom.

Hope it's just the starter. My wife's VW Golf had the internal alarm system go out which inturn shuts off power to the starter. An Expensive fix. Good luck

I think the solution is to buy an American Car.

I agree with Pascale, an American car is definately the solution here!

thanks for the replys! Well, it wasn't a wet starter, but it is definitely in the starting system. I'll going to take it to a mechanic to fix it.

I'd do it myself, but it's too much like work. When I work on the Elky, that's fun/hobby, but I'll pay someone to keep my wife's car running.

By the way, my wife agrees. We're trying to decide if the coast has a cliff high enough, or if we should head to the mountains http://www.chevelles.com/forum/wink.gif

Now, I just have to convince her that a 67SS is the way to go. http://www.chevelles.com/forum/biggrin.gif

I agree. I strongly suggest the Honda Accord.
