Ok...so who's taking bets that BBD was the FIRST to jump into this thread??? LOL! http://www.chevelles.com/forum/biggrin.gif

Anyway, I just got my quarter glass w/s rubbers with steel inserts from Ground Up (http://www.ss396.com). I was looking at it this morning wondering just how they are held in. I'm thinking weatherstripping sealant. I wanted some expertise before I tried to remove it. I have the w/s sealant remover and sealer if that's the case. Anybody done this?

TIA!

I have installed the rubber seals without the steel insert and they definitely need cement to hold them in. The original ones (with steel insert) appeared to have no adhesive. So, I would try to install them with soapy water as a lube and see how it looks after they dry. You can always come bacl later and put them in with adhesive if you like.

Actually, I installed the ones with the wire inserts last year on my Chevelle and the secret is LOTS of lube! Makes 'em slide right in the groove. http://www.chevelles.com/forum/biggrin.gif

So that's what my mother-in-law was talking about when she asked if we knew what caused "it". My wife sits near the vent window with the leaky rubber...must be the liquid getting past the rubber causing all those children (4). Well I guess I'll have to let her drive from now on!

The things you learn on TC...amazing

Drive, or ride???

Nothing like having lots 'o lube to help get it in. Make sure the rubber's on all the way, though. Don't want to have any spillage from lack of sealing. Also, make sure it's on going the right way. You'll know right off the bat, 'cause it won't fit the way it's supposed to...

Ok so I was laughing my BUTT off with the responses. And I can't help but be disappointed with BBD being SECOND in line. However it was noted that BBD was just about every other reply. http://www.chevelles.com/forum/biggrin.gif

Thanks for ALL of the replies gents! Without going into detail and opening myself WIDE open for comments, I'll try the above suggestions.

Al...sorry, I just couldn't resist this one
