then why would i want to run any antifreeze at all in my cast iron block and heads 454 in hot, hot, hot florida with no freezing temps??

what would be the ideal ratio of antifreeze to water in this harsh heat environment??

Because it'll boil over at a lower temperature. Ethylene glycol raises the boiling point of water so your cooling system is functional over a wider range of temperatures.

why does the water pump benefit from lubricants...is it to lube the seal ing edge of the seal??

Antifreeze also has rust inhibitors to keep the block reasonably clean. There is really no good reason to run straight water.
