What would be the cause the automatic transmission to not supply power to the rear wheels?

What is happening is the tranny will have shifted to second gear, then it will have power, then it will let the engine just rev up, then it will have power again. It repeats this quickly, as to make my car jerk forward.
It does not happen, every time i drive the car either. It comes and goes, every few days.

Could this be caused by the torque converter?

Also, the tranny is relatively new, less than 4000 miles. Its a 700-r4.

Thanks,
Tim

Check your TV cable. I may need adjusted. You may want to drop the pan and make sure you don't have any shavings or anything, although you shouldn't with tranny.

It kind of sounds like it is the 2-4 band slipping. But not sure.

Good luck.

Check the fluid level. It sounds like it's low. If the fluid level is good, drop the pan and remove the filter. Look closely at the o-ring on the tube. If the o-ring is damaged, it cause air to be sucked into the front pump. If there is no o-ring, luck up into the casting where the tube presses in. The o-ring may have stuck to the casting.
Some filters have an o-ring, some have a seal that looks like a rubber band. You want to switch to the rubber band. To do so you'll have to buy a filter from a Chevy dealer, which is what I recommend anyway.
If the o-ring isn't damaged, then you'll probably have to return the car to the shop that rebuilt the tranny. It wouldn't be the first time a 700 has failed so soon. They are good trannys once you rebuild them right, but they still have that lingering bad reputation left over from their early days.
