: what size sway bar in a BB 70 malibu???
What are you big-block 70 guys running for a sway bar? I have 15/16" now, and will add some new springs to help the weight once the rat goes in, but I don't know if I should get a beefier sway bar. Is 15/16" adequate with a big block? I just want as little body roll as possible, this isa daily driver and I'm trying to keep it nice and safe.
I am going from memory, but I think it is 1-1/8th inch. I am pretty sure you can get one that big, even if it wasn't stock.

racer1320 Feb 28th, 00, 6:43 AM Lev, I use 1 3/8", purchased from HO Racing who I believe sold their inventory to Malibu Performance.
Wes Colby Feb 28th, 00, 10:36 AM Hey Racer1320, do you happen to have Malibu Performance's phone number handy...thinking of doing what Lev is considering. Thanks!

70 RAT Feb 28th, 00, 11:00 AM Lev...I've got the 1.25" bar in front and also installed poligraphite bushings on the bar links...really firmed up the front end with minimal body roll.

Wow. Those are some serious sway bars!!! The 1-3/8" sounds the stablest. Of course, poly-urethane bushings are a given. I'm assuming this bar'll fit on the stock (not original, but same as) end links?
Steve R Feb 28th, 00, 7:30 PM Try the 1 1/4 sway bar off a 70-81 Trans Am, they are a perfect fit. Around here they are less than $15 at the pick and pull wrecking yards. I have one on my 71 El Camino.

Larry Feb 28th, 00, 8:37 PM Hey Racer, do you take that front bar off when you go racing? I don't see it any of your pics. But you can't miss that big-ass rear bar. What size is that...1 1/4? Also, those look like SSM Lift Bars on the back or something similar...they're hanging low. You happy with those?
Tom Mobley Feb 28th, 00, 9:39 PM I have the 1&1/4" from a 79 T/A on mine, it interfered with the left tie rod till I put longer end links on. With this big front bar I'm not sure a rear bar is necessary. I don't have one on and my car handles like a Camaro or better.

THORSS70 Feb 29th, 00, 3:00 PM Ditto Steve, I just put mine on the other day from a doner trans-am 1-1/4" with poly bushings. Big difference, with a total investment around 30 bucks, good deal. My end links are around 4 inches long and had no problem putting them on, I guess it depends on each application.

racer1320 Mar 1st, 00, 5:57 PM Larry, the front bar is gone now in an effort to get some weight off the nose, that bar weighed 30 lbs. The rear bar is also 1 3/8" and the upper and lower control arms are from Metco Engineering - www.metco-inc.com. (http://www.metco-inc.com.) They are billet aluminum with greaseable poly bushings and the lower arms are designed on the same principal as the SSM bars which enables you to modify the "instant center" by altering the mounting points and thereby reduce squatting. The uppers are adjustable to dial in pinion angle and pre-load.
