Anyone have any pointers on istalling a 700 in a 71 Chevelle with a 454? My biggest concern is the cable hookup. Does anyone make a retro kit to mate all this up properly so the shifts are correct? Thanks!

SHIFTWORKS (http://www.shiftworks.com) has about everything you may need. Including a new console lens.

OR...R U speaking of the TV Cable brackets etc.?

I used the original 350 kickdown cable bracket (350/350 2bbl) when I first installed the 700 in my carbed motor. Used a camaro TV cable. Adjustment was just like factory.

This (http://205.178.174.23/sumner/techinfo/700R4p1.html) page has some detailed info on the bracket/cable relationships.

It is linked at http://links.chevelles.net/links/Resources/Information/ along with several other useful links. And some more is at http://links.chevelles.net/links/Resources/Technical/

One of the linked pages has some good info on torque converter lockup wiring without a computer.

Hope these help.

Hey mstacy, check out both of those web sites. There both very good and very informative. I was on the 700R4 web site yesterday, per Rat Traps suggestion, and it talks about everything you'll need to know.

Check 'm out. You'll be surprised! http://www.chevelles.com/forum/wink.gif
