Hey guys, ok, give me a break, I'm 17. I know a small block from a big block, but I've heard of a 350 longblock. What does this mean? Is there a shortblock also?

Could be wrong, but:
Short Block= engine block (lower half) without intake.
Rotating Assambly= engine block with pistons, rods and crank
Long Block= Rotating assembly with inrake and carb.
Something like that.

A short block has the block, pistons, crank, cam and lifters, and,in most cases, a new oil pump. You reuse your heads, intake, pan and all of the externals, water pump, fuel pump, etc.
A long block has the components of the short block plus the heads, pan, timing chain cover and all push rods installed and adjusted. Some also come with valve covers. You still have to reuse your externals. Some long blocks also come with the intake, but most times don't. The advantage to the long block is that the heads are already installed and torqued and all of the valves are already set up. Less trouble to assemble.

Short block= block, crank, rods, pistons with rings and usually cam with chain/gears, all assembled. The reason I say usually is, some guys sell shortblocks without cam and gears, this way it's your choice.

Long block= above items with cylinder heads attached. Both short block and long block don't come with any tin, valve covers, oil pan and timing chain cover.

Complete engines= assembled engines, usually without carburetor and distributor. But, some guys like GMPP, sell a version with everything.

To summarize, you can get just about any variation of all, or part of the above based on your budget.
