the weld wheels i bought only have a 4" offset and it looks like the 275's will rub if i have more than 1" of suspension movement, they may not if i can shave the lip down a little that curvs inward. has anyone done this before.

I have never tried it, but Ive seen cars where this was done..put a baseball bat on the tire and against the inside lip of the quarter, push the car forward and the bat will roll the lip up and out of the way. Saw it on a big block nova with 275's..I could never get more than a 245 on mine. Like I said Ive never done it, but it works.

I have a 70 Elky and had to cut and roll the lip on my 1/4 panels in order to get 325/50/15 tires on the rear ( if I had to do it over again not sure if I would do it)...My advise is if the car is worth keeping and you want to enjoy it for many years to come, get some wheels that will let you put those 275's on with out hacking up your 1/4 panels, but then again, I quess you have to do what you have to do .....Good luck.

I just did this to my 66 to get my 295's to clear. Im totally happy with it. looks great. I even whent a step further and used a old style bumperjack to pull the lip out even further. the only thing about cutting the lip is it seperates the quarter panel from the whell well. so u need to hit a few spots with the welder. just to stop rattles.
