I have a 70 SS with a fresh professionally built 10:1, 505 h.p., 521 ft.lb. tq. 454 c.i. engine.
I installed a Summit HEI with Moroso wires. I am using an Edelbrock 750 (#1411) carb, which the Edelbrock tech says is actually an "economy" carb. I installed a Carter Hi-vol. fuel pump. Exhausting is done by Hedman Headers (2" primaries), with Flowmaster mufflers and 2 & 1/2" pipes throughout. Initial timing is set at 12 deg.with no vacuum advance hooked up, but mechanical advance only, as per the engine builder. He also recommended that the engine be fully advanced by 3,000 rpm. (which I haven't as yet checked).
Since the car is a daily driver, I'm not interested in 1/100's sec. ETs, etc. But any suggestions as to the set up? It runs pretty good now, but I'm sure that much more potential is there! Thanks in advance!

Yeah, put a 3" X 2.5" X-pipe in the exhaust system, you'll get more out of it for sure.

BTW, most of the "combo gurus" here can only make a good comment if you are very specific about details ( cam timing, gears, etc). So if you really want help ( and it sounds like a good combo), be more specific.

If your mostly driving it on the street I would hook up the vacuum advance.
