DUUUH

i was so consumed with getting all the parts to move the HEI coil out of the distributor that i never bothered to check WHERE i would mount a blaster 2 on the firewall

i have NO PLACE TO MOUNT THE DARN THING..

any suggestions??
where do you guys mount them that have sililar space on forewall problems...especially those of you that use outbourd MSD or other igntions (ie 6AL)

as i recall chevy used to have a coil mounting bracket that bolted down onto the manifold and held the coil at a slight angle from vertical

is this a viable option?
does the coil have to be prefectly vertical??
what about heat dissapation when bolted to the hot manifold??

where can i get such a bracket preferably new??

Hey Rich, as your facing the engine from the front, I've got my Blaster mounted vertically and just to the left of the distributor by about 5 inches. Don't mount it horizontally...coil windings must be covered in oil at ALL times and won't be if it's lying down.

I use MSD's standard coil bracket and anchored it against the firewall with two sheet metal screws. Works like a charm - hope this helps some.

Rich I don't know about big blocks but my 307 smally has the coil mounted on the intake. Its not HEI though.Maybe you could find a mounting bracket of a external mounted coil car.By the size of mine I bet they'd probably not even charge you.

i decided to bend the mounting tangs of the universal mounting bracket 90* towards each othere so they are parallel and bolt them to the inboard bolt on the brake master cylinder ---> vacuum assist

hope this one bolt will hold it without it slipping
