I have a holly carb that has the choke stack milled off.
My question is how do I tell what size it is so I can rebuild and buy parts for it?
It is a doubble pumper, dual inlet with idol adj. only on the front metering block.
Numbers on the base (top side) next to the small vac. port are 12 R 4770 R and the number 70643 on the ear of that same side.It has the numbers 173 and 173 stamped on the butterflyes and on the main body top L/H is GR3745B and P46 on the R/H side of the main body are the numbers 6C S and R24.
Also on the bottom of the main body between the body and the base are the numbers 1T1.
I cant be shure the bowles and metering blocks are intact so those numbers are probably useless.
any help would be greatly apreciated!

Look on the top of the front metering block and see if there is a L-4776 thru L-4781 with or without dash number after it. Most front metering blocks had the carb list number on the top of them for ID of the block.

If you post any number you find with the L in front of it, we can let you know just what it is, and, you can stamp the body with the correct LIST number when you find out just what it is.

TC,
If you cannot find any numbers, just take it apart. There are only a few different gaskets used in most of Holley's carbs and if you take the old ones with you to your local speed shop, they should be able to match them up very easily. Also, there is a company called AED that sells rebuild kits that cover almost all the Holley performance carbs. They have two kits, one for vacuum secondary carbs and one for the double pumpers. The kits have everything you need to do the job. The parts in the kits appear to be oem Holley parts. Your local speed shop should also be able to get them for you.
