: has anyone heard about Z-max?

I was flipping through the channels and stoped at speedvision, they had a 1/2hr promo for a product called Z-max. It goes in your gas, oil, and tranny fluid. They claim it cleans your motor up even if its dirty already. It also guarentees 10% better gas milage. I think its just another product they push to make money, that doesn't really do much. Has anyone heard about this product, or used it?

I've seen that promo a good few times, but don't know anybody who's actually tried it yet. Seems kinda logical, but seems like bs at the same time.

just go to wal-mart, k-mart or where ever and look at all the additives that were on TV at one time, they had you in a trance and wanted $49.95 but now they are $10 in the store and they aren't "flying" off the shelf.

another thing is car wax, Do you know how many different car waxs' i have in my possesion, some i haven't even used yet, and they all seem to do the same job, can you tell im a sucker for a good wax http://www.chevelles.com/forum/smile.gif the writing on the back makes em sound sooo ez to use http://www.chevelles.com/forum/rolleyes.gif they are all the same.

Is that the one where they add it to the engine of a fire truck? If thats the one I have seen it. I fire truck uses an other engine to pump the water, it is not the same engine that turns the wheels. They added the stuff to the truck engine and the pump worked better. I wonder how that really happened http://www.chevelles.com/forum/rolleyes.gif

We just finished doing a back to back chassis dyno testing session on the 502 http://www.chevelles.com/forum/rolleyes.gif. Our first base line run produced 450 rear wheel hp. Not bad. On our next pull, we left everything the same BUT poured in the Z-MAX wonder stuff for the oil, fuel and tranny fluids. We were totally blown away by the results!! http://www.chevelles.com/forum/eek.gif What a freak of mechancial nature....she belted out 9,277 rear wheel horsepower @ 5,950 rpm's and wound up fraggin' the entire driveline. Found hunks of fragged pig iron 10 blocks away! Gotta' get your hands on this stuff...it's like mixing nitrous oxide and nitromethane! Expensive on motors but you'll have an incredibly fast ride. I'd recommend just adding the tranny fluid additive first...we learned that you need to kind of ease into this stuff and build up your motor accordingly to handle the incredible output.

Go out and buy this stuff guys - it REALLY works... http://www.chevelles.com/forum/wink.gif

Oh hell Wes, I cant race ya now!!!

I could be completley missing the boat on these additives. The last time I through something funky in a motor was Arco Graphite motor oil and the 350 in my 72 Nova SS spun a rod bearing a few months later.

Coincidence?

But I did through some Slick50 in a Geo Spectrum 5 speed gearbox at about 135,000 becasue it was getting "sticky". That worked.

My 427 and fresh M20 will never see this crap.

I consider this stuff like any additive, only in a near hosed mill.Or one I dont really care about.
