Hello,
How do I remove the Chrome molding around the rear window and front window of my 68 SS. Is there some kind of special tool I need.
Also how do you remove the trim that seperates the Vinyl top from the body color. I do not plan on putting a vinyl to back on. Never really cared for them.

Thank you

For the window trim there is a special tool available at most parts stores. Ask for a trim removal tool. If you go to a shop with staffed by "Gear Heads" you can ask for a 30 second course in its use.
Don't know about the top trim. But I think the question was asked before. Do a subject search in chevelle tech, tech 2000,Bench Racing & Body shop forums. You'll find it.

About that second piece of trim you mentioned, between the vinyl top and the body color, there is a speed nut holding it in place; just open up your trunk and you should be able to spot it. I found this out the hard way! In fact, if you aren't going to replace the vinyl roof and don't need that trim piece, I'd be glad to take it off your hands for a reasonable price http://www.chevelles.com/forum/smile.gif! If you're interested, e-mail me at swail@cc.umanitoba.ca Good luck.

The lower rear window trim piece has two screws on the inside of the car and a cheap trim removal tool is to take a common "church key" type bottle opener and tape the lower leverage point (the part that would catch the lip of the can) and very gently "open" the trim off by applying the tool as if you were opening a can but only lifting the edge of the trim a few millimeters and do this in one inch increments along the edge of the trim. This will prevent bending the trim which can be done if applying too much force.

Anyone know how to remove the corner pieces, off the vinyl trim? The rest came off easy, the two corners will not come off. Thanks
