I believe I have the original 65 Chevelle fan motor/blades in my 327 that has 5 (approx.6") blades and a piece of metal about 2.5" x 1/2" on the front of the clutch assembly.
Is this a thermal type clutch?

I live in So.Cal and would like to put in the best system I can(newly rebuilt motor). It's a daily driver.

The engine has been modified a little with headers, intake manifold, carb, cam etc..
Should I keep the 5 blade fan, increase radiator size to a 4 core??

With so many choices ot there it gets a little confusing.
Thanks,
Jack

Hey Jack,
I have a 65 with factory air and a new target 300/350. It sounds like you have the stock fan. I think a fan clutch was std. with the 327. The problem seems to be the inefficent fan shroud. I couln't get enough air thru the radiator with the stock 283 fan (I live in Las Vegas) so I went to a pair of Spal electric fans. I've been told that a shroud from a 66 fits with slight modification but ask around before you buy. The electric fans work great, I have them on a thermostat for set up for automatic operation and cool down. mgg

Jack-
Take Manny's insight into high consideration, it's good stuff. I would use a 3 row radiator instead of 4 for the 327 but upgrade the fans(like manny said) and try a lower thermostat(like a 180, that's what is in my moms '67camaro and it stays cool) It does get hot down here!
BTW-Did you ever find some seats for your car? Also remember way back (like Dec.) when you sent the mail about wheels? Well I'm off on my search for the mysterious 65 I said I would've rather had back then! For that matter what did you decide for wheels? Did you get the Cragar's? You can reply my email if you want.
Thanks! and Good Luck!
