The 3/4 hose from my heater core attatches to a little pipe fitting(I don't know the exact name) screwed into the manifold . All the stock chevy fittings I have seen are straight. Did GM ever make a fitting like that with a 90° bend? The hose on my car would look much neater if I could use a 90° fitting. I know I could go to a plumming store and get the pipe I would need to make it but, I was wondering if I could just get it as a one piece fitting...Thanks

I believe they were all straight since a 90 degree bend would have some restriction on flow.

If you're not worried about staying stock, you can get a 45° fitting as well. Most auto parts places have 'em includiong Advanced Auto.

Hey Joe,
I went to a plumbing store and bought a 90 degree MXF brass fitting. Powder coated it silver and stuck it in. It does make a much neater installation and you don't have to disconnect the heater hose to take off the valve cover. mgg

Joe,
I picked up a 90 degree fitting for the intake at the recent Super Chevy Show in Ennis, Tx. Sorry but I don't remember the guy's name offhand, but he is a vendor at many major events. It looks repackaged so I would assume any hot rod specialty shop would have a line on them.
It probably will restrict flow a little bit and I haven't driven the car yet (still building), but I wouldn't think anymore restriction than the 4" or 5" climb the water has to make with a stock hose connection.

I had the same wish, for a 90 to put on the front of my Edelbrock RPM manifold so the heater hose didn't stick straight up. I tried hardware stores, then plumbing suppliers, but all the stuff I could find looked cobby. One day I was in a real auto parts store (not a chain), and they had a catalog with all kinds of car plumbing stuff in it. I found a nice, short 90 that is very compact and sanitary looking. It looks like a long hex head bolt, with neck coming off the side. It's nicely plated a silver color.
The hole where the neck fit the hex was really small, but I had no problem with heater output on a couple of dry, snowless winter evenings I got to drive last year. That's in Utah at 20 or so degrees.
As I remember, the application was for a mid 60's Ford V8 pickup. Anyway, they had a few pages of different ones to pick from, and the right one was in stock! I have a digital camera, if you want a picture of the set up, let me know.
