Thinking about purchasing a 1970 chevelle. This chevelle has been totally changed into an SS Chevelle model car, top to bottom, inside and out. The numbers are not matching for an SS model. The engine is an 1988 454 LS7 crate motor, done up right(details has been taken. My question are as follows: will gas octane be a problem for this 454 LS7 engine with 12.25 to 1 compression engine to be used as an occassionally driven street car? and (2) What kind of value would you place on this car nowing it is not numbrs matching but has been totally redone over. It has PS, 4 speed M-22, cowl hood, correct wheels, suspension, interior,dash,exhaust,etc.,etc.. I realize it does not have the value as an numbers matching SS 454 but I need a ballpark idea. An honestly, I can not afford a true 1970 SS 454 LS6, I have kids going to college. Thanks

I have a 70 Elky with a LS/7 and fuel is not a problem as long as it has a rating of at least 100 octane. As for your second question I'm not sure what a good price for the chevelle would be? good luck !

My dad once told me that what you purchase is worth exactly what price you will give and what price someone will accept. My advice is to take things slowly, don't spend money on something that you may not be happy with in a few short weeks. You should spend some time looking at the prices of clones compared to #'s matching SS cars - autotrader.com, etc. This will at least give you an idea of the going rates for both. You don't have to buy a #'s matching SS car to enjoy owning a Chevelle, there are many great SS cars without the original drive train but they are still great cars and creating you own drive train is sometimes very rewarding.
Good luck - take your time.
