I just bought a new engine compt. wiring harness at a swap meet. When I went to attach it to the fuse box, the connectors were completely different. The new harness is for a 68 BB auto which is what I now have. But origianlly the car was a 327 4-sp.

How can I tell what fuse box I have? Who sells the correct 68 fuse box I need if I do need to replace it??

I'm not up on 68s, but I think that the connectors should be the same, bb or sb. Either you have the wrong year harness, or someone has changed the instument panel harness. I looked in my 68 and 69 assembly manuals, and they appear to have the same type connectors, they kind of look like a rectangle with a notch out of one side, a 64-67 looks like a full rectangle. I hope this helps.

The box on the car looks like a full recatangle, the new one only a half. Maybe its an 64-67 box. Anyone want to swap for a 68 Fuse box? I can send a pic to show what my box looks like...Scott

If you can, e-mail me a picture of the connectors and box, I can tell you if either is a 64-67. Btw there should be 2 connectors going to the box, (1) engine harness (2) forward lamp harness,also 64-67 has a spot for 10 wires per connector, 68 appears to have a spot for 14 wires per connector.

If you only have "half a box" of a connector, you have what you stated, the engine harness. The front lamp harness should make up the rest of the "box" and you should be able to snap your new engine harness connector to the original lamp harness connector. Together they bolt to the firewall bulkhead.
